When times are good, when times are sad, when times are rough or unpredictable, we can remember to not only love and take care of those around us, we can also remember to love and take care of ourselves. None of us is good for each other if we don’t love ourselves first. Living in Zen reminds us to reflect, meditate, re-group, recharge, refocus. Living in Zen awakens and revitalizes our spirits and quiets the confusion in our heads.
The word spa conjures up many pictures in our heads. Some people think of a nail salon, some people think of hot tubs and steam baths, some people think of massages, and some people think of tranquility, grace, elegance, relaxation, mindfulness, and joy. All of these visions are correct. A spa doesn’t have to be a physical place with services. It can be, but it does not have to be. A spa can be a state of mind, a way of being, a way of living in Zen. Most of us can’t afford to live at a Spa every day, but we can incorporate that spa feeling into our everyday lives at minimal cost. That way, every day can be a ‘Spa Day.” Every day can be Living in Zen.
