Breathe

Breathe.

Breathe slowly.

Breathe deeply.

Feel the breath entering your body.

Feel the breath exiting your body.

Become conscious of your breath.

Don’t take a subconscious breath.

Become aware of your breathing and breath.

Breath air in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Focus on inhaling and exhaling from the stomach.  Push your belly button out and expand your ribcage as you draw air in, then do the opposite as you breath out.

Develop a rhythm that matches your actions… five counts in, five counts out, four counts in, four counts out.  Start with a count that works for you and increase that count as relaxation occurs.  Practice this breathing technique for five to fifteen minutes or as long as you can.

Take breaks throughout your day to practice this simple breathing exercise.  Breathing exercises are one of the most popular and commonly-recommended stress relievers.  The pros of breathing exercises?

  • Breathing exercises work quickly.
  • Breathing exercises are portable; you can do breathing exercises ANYWHERE.
  • Breathing exercises are easy to learn.
  • BREATHING EXERCISES ARE FREE.
  • You can use breathing exercises in stressful situations to stay calm.
  • Breathing exercises reverse your stress response, helping you avoid the negative effects of chronic stress.

Be mindful of each breath.

Breathe well for stress relief.
