Turn it Off!

The average American spends three to four hours daily glued to the television… 3 to 4 hours!!!  The more hours of television a person watches, the higher the risk for that person developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

Screen–Free Week (April 30 through May 6) encourages Americans to shut off the television and get off the sofa.  Here’s how to enjoy the week sans the boob continue reading...

Find Your Zen in Nature

April 21 to April 29 is National Park Week.

Free admission is offered at parks nationwide.

Go to www.nps.gov/npweek for a listing of national parks, monuments, and historical sites that are waiving entry fees for the week.

My hubby and I took advantage of National Park Week yesterday and went to Joshua Tree National Park.  We hiked the 49 Palms Trail, and it was beautiful.

The cacti are blooming.

Happy Earth Day!

I got up early this morning to catch the coolness outside.

The forecast is calling for temperatures today in the high 90′s in Southern California.

And it’s Earth Day.

Did you know that Earth Day is 42 years old?

Check out your front yard.

Check out your backyard.

The roses are going CRAZY right now in mine.

WHO ARE YOU?

WHO ARE YOU?

It’s a BIG question… one that’s HARD to answer.

Step back and ask yourself these three questions…

What do you promise to give to yourself?

What do you promise to give to others?

DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU WANT TO CONVEY IN THE BUSINESS WORLD AND IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE?

Don’t be alarmed continue reading...

The Rules on Being Human

I made three trips to Goodwill this past Sunday, partly to keep a New Year’s resolution to give/pass on unused items weekly, and part spring cleaning.

After a weekend in my closet, I’ve decided I have LOTS of spring cleaning to do.

Going through closets is a treasure hunt… you never know what you are going to find.

I stumbled on my ORIGINAL Social Security card and “The Rules on Being Human” continue reading...

It’s a day of celebration!

Living…

Someone very close to me recently had a cancer scare.

After extensive testing, cancer was ruled out, but the ordeal left an impression on me, not to mention my friend.

It got me thinking of my ‘bucket list.’

It got me thinking why I’m not doing the items on the list.

What am I waiting for?

Is it a matter of finances?  For some items, yes.

Is it a matter of planning?  For some items, continue reading...

Got Good Work Ba-gua?

What does your work desk LOOK like?  More importantly, what does your work desk FEEL like?  Does the energy flow freely at your desk?  How is your work chi?

Feng shui uses ba-gua.  A ba-gua map is a tool used in feng shui to map a room or location and see how the different sections correspond to different aspects in one’s life. These sections are categories like fame, relationships/marriage, children/creativity, helpful continue reading...

What is your Real Age?

I opened up an email yesterday morning from RealAge.®

RealAge® is a free online test created by Dr. Oz and Dr Roizen.  These two people have some good things to say about living life well for your mind, body, and soul.

It takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.  It asks questions about your health, family medical history, diet, activity level, and attitude, then determines what your ‘real age’ is… you could end up younger or older than your actual physical continue reading...
