Saturday, April 28, 2012 is World Tai Chi Qigong Day.
What does this mean?
If you haven’t already, find out about the ancient art of Tai Chi and Qigong, and how these two practices can benefit and enrich your well being mentally, physically, and emotionally.
What are the benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong? Personally, I’ve found both:
I’ve passed this stretch of curb many times in my life… driving by it, walking over it by myself, walking over it with kids, walking over it with a pooped continue reading...
I took a walk by myself yesterday afternoon after getting home from work.
It was warm, sunny, a perfect spring day.
I was deep in my head when I started walking. Thinking about work, processing the day’s events, thinking about what to have for dinner…
Halfway through the walk, a spring symphony broke my thoughts, THANK GOODNESS!
The spring symphony was birds singing, chatting, making all sorts of noises that together, was a continue reading...

It’s easy to sing the blues about what’s wrong in your world. But remembering that each breath is a GIFT can remind you of what’s important. Take stock of your good things, be it health, job, family, friends, or simply enjoying a hot cup of coffee or tea. There are SO MANY reasons to be grateful; gratitude is a key to unlocking inner peace.

“Slow down, you drive too fast; you’ve got to make the morning last.”
I was thinking of that song this morning when a car zipped past me on the freeway. I was going 70 miles per hour, but apparently 70 miles per hour was not fast enough for this particular driver. Who knows where they were going in such a hurry; if they were late for an important date, or if that is how they normally drive. But when someone zips by you when you are driving as if you continue reading...
My son has a friend who has landed a great-paying job in the Texas oil fields.
This 19-year old kid is making $25 an hour.
He’s just bought a new truck.
He works one week and has the next week off.
So far, the new truck is his only financial obligation beside monthly rent and utilities.
He’s footloose and fancy-free with tons of time and tons of energy.
“Frank” took this job because he didn’t know what to do… he was stumbling continue reading...
A man wades thru the surf to sit on a rock.
A homeless person beds down for the night.
A tortured soul rants about the world’s injustices.
An elderly couple holds hands.
Friends meet up.
Children play in the surf.
I stand watching it all as the sun dances on the water, setting on a Maui day.
Glorious.
Take time to watch the sun set.
Be present.
Be mindful.

Did you know that January is National Hot Tea month? Neither did I until yesterday.
The following is one of my favorite poems, and I want to share it with you.
Be mindful, and live in Zen.

I read something surprising today: the beauty industry is responsible for one-third of all landfill waste.
One-third!!!!
And I thought plastic water bottles were the big culprit!
So before you purchase your next beauty aid, be it shampoo, lotion, mascara, etc., consider the packaging and the container… is the packaging excessive? Does the packaging contain post-consumer waste, biodegradable plastics (made from continue reading...
