De-clutter!

When you walk into a spa, you immediately notice the soothing music, quiet voices, and lack of clutter.  There’s tea, water, fresh fruit and cookies beautifully arranged for you to enjoy; a beautiful sitting area waiting for you to relax.  Spas are serene and calm.  Every item has its place.

When have you seen clutter in a spa?

Order calms.  Clutter generates anxiety.  Clutter overwhelms and overloads.  Overloaded brains don’t calm down, continue reading...

Spa Day at Home

Don’t break your bank… here is a recipe to create a spa experience in the comforts of your own home that you can do on YOUR time schedule and budget:

  • Pick a room that you can relax in.
  • Remove any clutter or distractions.
  • Fill a vase with fresh flowers.  Or, fill multiple vases with one or two flowers and place throughout the room.
  • Turn down the lights and light scented candles.
  • Add soft continue reading...

The Golden Door Spa, Naples, Florida

It’s the first full week in December, and I’m soaking in the warmth of the Florida sun.

There’s a waterfall at my feet and a tranquil stream at my head.

I’m spa-ing today at the Golden Door in Naples, Florida.

I chose two therapies at the spa… a pedicure, and a full-body scrub.

I scheduled both services for late in the afternoon, so I could make a full spa day of it, to soak, steam, sun, then sleep in the tranquility continue reading...

The Best Facial!

I had a facial last night… a fabulous facial, at European Touch.

European Touch is a one-woman shop in Loma Linda, California that has been there for years.

It’s Marie’s shop.

Marie is from France.

And Marie KNOWS how to give a fabulous facial.

I can say that because I’ve had LOTS of facials through the years, and NO FACIAL EVEN COMES CLOSE TO A FACIAL FROM MARIE.

Marie continue reading...

Sande’s ‘Budget Spa Cuisine Sashimi’

Fish is brain food… I can FEEL the power surge to my brain with each bite of fish (REALLY!).

I LOVE sashimi, but I don’t LOVE the price, so…

I resort to making a ‘Budget Spa Cuisine Sashimi’ dish at home…

Here’s my recipe…

Buy 1/2 pound of the freshest Ahi you can find, then chop it up and put it into a continue reading...

The Sweet Sound of Water

What is it about water and tranquility?

They seem to go hand in hand.

When I hear a babbling brook, when I hear rushing water, when I hear a trickle hitting rocks, my mind SLOWS DOWN.

I focus on the sound, and it soothes me… instantly.

Simple, sweet water…

We had a small water fountain in our sunroom a few years back.  It was small and simple.  It stood on its own stand and flowed continue reading...

Mornings in Bed

I have an awesome cup of coffee on the nightstand.  It tastes better since I’m enjoying it in bed.

Its warming up outside… it will be a hot day.  But I’m under the sheets with the ceiling fan spinning above me, and I’m cool and cozy.

The Sunday paper is dismantled at my side, I don’t have to be anywhere, and I can lie naked in bed all day if I want.

I haven’t done this in ages.

It’s a sweet Sunday.

It’s a continue reading...

Tumble in Marshmallows

I experienced my first taste of luxury bedding in 1994.  It was at the Capitol Hill Bed and Breakfast in Seattle.  It also happened to be my first time at an American Bed and Breakfast.

That bedding left me speechless.  I didn’t know such luxury existed.  When I crawled into bed that night, I SANK, literally, into an ethereal zone that I never wanted to leave.  I slept like never before.  The sheets CARESSED me.  I felt like I continue reading...

A Weekend Retreat

I am going to an annual Yoga and Wellness Retreat up in my local mountains this weekend.

For $165, I have two nights and three days in a cabin, six delicious meals, the use of a heated pool, hot tub, hiking, kayaking, archery, Tai Chi, Meditation, and of course, Yoga.

Plus I have nature to help nurture my soul.

This retreat is right up my alley.

This sounds like a spa weekend to me, but at a fraction of the spa cost.

Here’s continue reading...
